Regional Focus
Building Strong Regional Networks
At NORSTA, our success relies on developing a strong and flexible regional sustainment community.
It is through the collaboration with other industry and supply chain businesses that we are able to provide great maritime sustainment services. By building strong relationships with partners we trust, such as Nova Systems and SECORA Australasia, our combined skills and resources allow us to be great, every time. NORSTA North, located in Darwin, extends this collaborative effort into the northern regions, broadening our Defence national sustainment capability.
Local Industry Growth
Empowering Regional Development
We are committed to building the local industry as a regional driver of maritime sustainment. By choosing to partner with us, organisations take their place within a dynamic network of like-minded businesses all working towards building regional capabilities in the best interest of the entire community. This collaboration leads to the development of new jobs, acts as a driver for economic growth, and prosperity in our regions.
This dual regional approach also serves to benefit both Cairns and Darwin with increased economic activity and community development.

Engaging the Community
Strengthening Regional Ties
Community engagement is an essential value that we hold at NORSTA. Through regular industry and business briefings, we keep maritime stakeholders and local supply chain businesses informed about program progress and potential opportunities. By engaging with both communities, we unlock the full potential of our regions, ensuring that our efforts are aligned with local needs and aspirations.
Throughout 2024
Throughout 2024, NORSTA remains committed to fostering strong connections with the maritime industry and local businesses.
We will continue to hold both formal and informal briefings to keep Cairns and Darwin maritime stakeholders, as well as local supply chain businesses, up-to-date on program developments and potential opportunities.
Industry and Business briefings
Formal and informal updates will be held regularly to keep Cairns maritime stakeholders as well as local supply chain businesses up to date on the progress of the program and potential opportunities. These briefings are an excellent opportunity to stay informed and be engaged in the program.
Supply chain pre-qualification completion
Our dedicated supply chain team will reach out for any additional information required to progress to the pre-qualification stage.
Plan Galileo and Industry Briefing
The Plan Galileo Team, in conjunction with NORSTA Maritime, hosted the Plan Galileo and Industry Briefing, an event aimed at providing Cairns’ maritime stakeholders and community, along with local supply chain businesses, with a comprehensive update on the progress of Plan Galileo.
This update focuses on the implementation of Regional Maintenance Centres across Australia, with special attention given to the Regional Maintenance Centre North-East located in Cairns, as well as the pivotal role played by the Regional Maintenance Provider North-East, NORSTA, in this initiative.
Additionally, the event covered key Defence initiatives pertinent to the region.
Supply chain meetings and enterprise charter commitments
Throughout the year we will establish meetings which outline our enterprise commitments with pre-qualified businesses.
Supply chain contract award and signature
We seek fair and sustainable agreements with clear terms and the right risk versus reward balance.
Assessments, audits & continuous improvements
At NORSTA, we strive to develop a continuous improvement culture. Once on-boarded and with your support, we will conduct periodic assessments and audits of areas within your supply chain which aims to identify areas of continuous improvement.
