At NORSTA, we believe in creating a supportive and inclusive workplace where veterans can thrive. We foster a community that values camaraderie, mutual support, and shared experiences.

We are dedicated to supporting veterans through every stage of their employment journey. We invite applicants to voluntarily disclose their prior military service and clearly list ‘Veterans are encouraged to apply’ or ‘Defence experience desirable’ in relevant job advertisements. This ensures that veterans know they are valued and welcome in our organisation.

We actively build informal networks to seek veteran job applicants and provide constructive feedback to those who are unsuccessful, ensuring they have valuable insights for future opportunities. Our interview techniques are tailored to be veteran-friendly, recognising the unique skills and experiences that veterans offer to an organisation.

NORSTA goes above and beyond to support veterans to:

  • Establish an internal employee referral network to identify potential veteran employees
  • Educate our recruiting staff on military cultural competence, veteran skills translation, and veteran transition
  • Develop a veteran employee HR policy and strategy
  • Support education and training opportunities for veteran employees
  • Participate in commemoration
  • Promote veteran employment success stories
